This interactive dialogue was part of the AIIPOIP project, ‘Building an Australia-India Community of Practice on Ocean Accounting’. This dialogue follows from the inaugural dialogue which took place on 14 December 2021. The project aims to advance the goals of India’s Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI), particularly the marine ecology pillar co-led by Australia. The AIIPOIP is a practical initiative under the Australia-India Joint Declaration on a Shared Vision for Maritime Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, as part of the Australia-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership announced during the Leaders’ Virtual Summit on 4 June 2020. Australia and India have a significant interest in sustainable management of oceans and ocean resources, as together they share close to 9.2% of the global coastline and 8.2% of the world’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
